Auckland and away!

So after nearly 3 weeks of filling in job applications signing on with agencies we had not received a single phone call about a job or even a interview. I had even put in an application form to a pub near where we were staying and the very next day they put an advert up about a job and I never got a phone call! Maybe God was trying to tell us something! We decided to look at other options. We found a company who supplies fruit pickers in another part of the country, so we decided to buy our camper van and go pick fruit.

Camper Van

Our home for the next few months is a beautiful Toyota Hiace. It has been converted to a camper van. We have named her Sheila and she drives like a dream. When we first got the van we took it back to Mellons Bay and I cleaned the Van inside and out while Zoe built a table out of scraps from the skip next door! The van has a very comfortable bed in the back it also has a lots of room for storage.

Travelling

Since we are now travelling and have a van we decided to see some more of the North Island before we start work. We have left Auckland and have headed north. We are about to enter the Bay of Islands and then up to the point. We are finding the country very interesting. It can be best summed up by you never know what you'll find around the next corner. It may be a beautiful view or massive hills or some wildlife in the road! As you can see the weather here is not what we experienced in Australia! It is true what they say about 4 seasons in one day!

Fishing
When we got the van it had loads of stuff already in and by luck it had a fishing rod. I have spent some time fishing with no luck as yet. I have a had a lesson on using the rod from a friend and I feel that soon the fish will be flying in. The only problem is the storage of the bait Zoe is not happy about me having squid loose in the van!

Hello friends, Hope all goes well on the road. And that you get enough work to keep you going. I think you've got more chance eating (road kill) the wild life you run over than anything Dave is likely to catch fishing (remember Landbeach my friend !!)
Not much to report on the home front - no exciting news ref; our village - accept that I noticed we had at least 20 more ducks on the pond this week end. & Histon FC beat Salisbury 4-0 Life struggles on.
All the usual suspects @ Normanhurst, Sam & Moore house send their best wishes to you & Mikey can actually comb his hair now it's grown a bit!!! God bless you both - the Smiffs!! XXXX

Now for life in a box!
Three quarters the people in NZ live in Auckland, so go meet the others!
Hope you find some fruit (edible variety) and collect some sun tans!
We have been waiting for a joke worthy of your blog...

For decades, two heroic statues, one male and one female, faced each other in a city park, until one day an angel came down from Heaven. "You`ve been such exemplary statues," he announced to them, "that I`m going to give you a special gift. I`m going to bring you both to life for thirty minutes, in which you can do anything you want." And with a
clap of his hands, the angel brought the statues to life. The two approached each other a bit shyly, but soon dashed for the
bushes, from which shortly emerged a good deal of giggling, laughter,
and shaking of branches. Fifteen minutes later, the two statues emerged from the bushes, wide grins on their faces. "You still have fifteen more minutes," said the angel, winking knowingly.
Grinning even more widely, the female statue turned to the male statue and said, "Great! Only this time you hold the pigeon down and I`ll sh*t on its head."

Have a great week!
