Bangkok Done!!!!!

We have now left Bangkok and we are staying with our friend in Sydney.

So Bangkok is finish.

While leaving Bangkok Customs I was taken aside by a security office and asked do I have knife in my bag? I would not have been that foolish to leave a knife in my bag so I said " no officer". He then emptied my bag of jumpers, mp3 player and all and found no knife. He then put it though the x-ray machine again and he said the knife was still there. I said "officer I can assure you there is no knife in my bag" as I was taking to the man I put my hand in the bag to show him. To my horror I found my penknife. I was asked to put it into the box never to been seen again. I would like to say this is not the first and I'm sure it will not be the last of my pen knifes to be confiscated

My trip though customs got even worst when we reached Australia. They do not allow you to bring food, wood, or mud on your walking boots. Well I have recently walked around the Isle of white with my Dad and I'm ashamed to admit that I had not cleaned them thoroughly. When asked by the Australian customs if our boots were clean. Zoe answered first and said "of course they are" they checked and her boots were spotless. I said mine had a little mud on them by some luck they did not ask to see my boots as we then saw other people having their shoes taken away!

And so the next chapter is Australia.........

Hi Dave & Zoe, sounds like you had a couple of a close calls @ the airport with some exciting experiences in Bangkok to boot. Great pictures.
Looking at the size of them monks in Bangkok I reckon even I would seem quite tall. Did you feel an urge to smash an orange on their heads & say "you've been tangoed!!!!
Regarding the resteurant where, cats were chasing rats @ least you could see that the rats were alive and not being served up on your plates.
If Dave had been stripped searched with a full internal heaven knows what may of been found??????????? A new striker for Histon FC perhaps.By the way they drew @ CUFC 2-2 coming from 2-0 behind at half time & they won 4-1 away to greys yesterday. Dave Cunningham says I have to mention him to you every time I send a message so I've done it!!
Weather has taken a turn for the worst - 6 feet of snow!
Work news - Paddy is sober and is considering joining the preisthood.
Mikey is on a diet & is considering
going to university- so your missing all the excitement
take care our good friends love to you both from all the Smiffs.

Hi David & Zoe
Sounds like you are having quite an adventure already! Your Christmas day seemed quite exciting - big church! We have had a good Christmas quite relaxing. Thank you very much for our gifts. The childrens work book looks great - lots of ideas! We are now back home after visiting in-laws though heading back to East Knapton on New Years Day. Hope you are keeping out of trouble over there in Australia! Look forward to hearing more of your news.
Love Ian & Bev

Happy New Year intrepid explorers.
Glad you survived customs and had no problems with passport control. We see the camera is up and working so you got that sorted.
You sounded like you were living it up in Thailand - now you get to slum it and go camping for a month... No more ping-pong or wiff-waff as 'my mate' Boris calls it. Sure that you will find plenty of proper sports in Oz (and none of this poofy dance boxing stuff)
More soon

P.S. Thanks for the postcard.

Just realised that you're already in 2009 whilst we're back in time in 2008! Tell us what the future is like!
