Here we are in Auckland it's a little, big city in a very hilly country. When we arrived it was late at night but the change of tempurtre was so lovely and much needed. When we left Sydney it was 40+ and in Auckland at 10pm it was 18 and so cool and refreshing. We moved into our hostel with the plan of going to buy a camper van in the morning.
Camper van house job
We awoke early to go to the backpackers car market. It was full of many different types of campers. Some we liked others we did not. We then wanted to go to look at others so we could compare prices. We got on a bus to travel across Auckland for nearly 1 hour to a market in a car park. We got there to find it no longer happened. By the time we had returned to the city all the other markets had finished. It was about this time we changed our plans. We decided to try to rent a room in the city and spend some time working. We found a flat on the suburbs of the city where we can rent a flat. It is less then 5 minutes to the beach. It has a nearby ferry and bus to the city. The family whose house the flat is in are lovely and looking after us. We have not yet got work but are signing up with agencies and hoping to start soon.
Travel
As I have mentioned this is a extremely hilly country. We were finding walking up and down the hills hard work so I thought lets find a better way to get around. We went out and bought two bikes. The bikes are good but this does not help us with the hills. One thing is for sure we will be coming back much fitter than when we left. Another thing is that it is law here to wear a helmet. By this they do not mean carrying it on your handlebars but you have to wear the helmet on your head.
Events
It was Zoe's birthday this week. We went out for the day and went to another art galley. I have never been a lover of the art but I am learning to like it as usually it is free. You will find me saying "This is not art, I could do this". Upcoming events include the Auckland sevens next week it's on a bank holiday. American cup is coming soon. Zoe would like to see the silver ferns play netball. there is so much going on in Auckland.

Please share a joke David.
Hi folks - just to say we've recieved ur parcel & will distribute goodies as requested. Thank you very much from the girls. Iris Sue's mam loved the postcard too. God bless you both as always.
A couple of scottish hunters are out in the woods when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn't seem to be breathing, his eyes are rolled back in his head. The other guy whips out his mobile phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps to the operator: “My friend is dead! What can I do?”
The operator, in a calm soothing voice says: “Just take it easy. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead.” There is a silence, then a shot is heard.
The guy's voice comes back on the line. He says: “OK, now what?“
A turtle was walking down an alley in New York when he was mugged by a gang of snails. A police detective came to investigate and asked the turtle if he could explain what happened.
The turtle looked at the detective with a confused look on his face and replied “I don't know, it all happened so fast.”
Please note - none of these jokes have anything to do with me - Zoe!!!
Hey! G'mornin'.Liked the jokes. Very original. Your description about weather/hills and markets are very interesting.Deeply jealous that you will attend a rugby 7's and other sports events.
you're not missing a darn thing being out of Blighty...except Loved Ones and friends. It's sunny, cold and the weather forcasters keep putting the "falling snow " icon on our screens; but they don't deliver the snow. So this Anglo Canadian ( ("snowbell". Good Luvk with the job hunting to his friends) can nick a dustbin lid and go sledging down the nearest "mountain". The Haverhill Gulley. !! No applause please;just sympathy.
Old/poor/manic depressive and snowless

Hello
Thanks very much for the souveneers (recieved them via mum today). We are both very well and have just had a great church weekend away. We have had a lot of snow today and more is on its way tonight. Ian had to bike through it to work. Lots of schools closed but not ours! Hoping it might be closed tommorow (though did have great fun in the playground with the kids). Bye for now
Bev (& Ian!)
I tend to check your blog more frequently than many of your friends as I have more time to do so. It's the third of the month and there is no entry from Auckland. Strongly hope your efforts to get work is the reason for no "stuff" from "Z & D"
10 centimetres of snow accumulated and disappeared overnight. Country at a standstill of course. If you live up north you were blessed with 28 centimetres...that's a bit more like it.Take care of each other. Clemmo
